We live in a world in constant evolution, in which healthcare technology is consolidating as an engine of transformation that is revolutionizing the healthcare sector. From our perspective, its potential to rethink traditional healthcare paradigms provides us with the opportunity to improve the quality of healthcare services and expand their reach, while driving more efficient, agile and people-centered management models.
Beyond incorporating tools, therapies, systems and platforms that combine innovation and science -such as high-precision diagnostic equipment, personalized treatments driven by artificial intelligence or telemedicine solutions- , and that allow us to address health problems more effectively and quickly, healthcare technology stands as a true catalyst for change. This advance not only strengthens our technical capabilities, but also implies a profound reconfiguration of the way healthcare systems operate and interact in order to offer more accessible, personalized solutions aligned with the real needs of our society, as well as moving towards the sustainability of the systems.

In this context, healthcare technology, characterized by its high strategic value for both public health and the national economy, is consolidating as an essential pillar for guaranteeing collective well-being and making determined progress towards a more resilient healthcare model that is prepared to successfully face future challenges. However, its development and effective adoption in the healthcare system require overcoming the complexities inherent to this sector, in order to ensure that technological innovations reach the end patient with maximum guarantees of safety and efficacy.
ACESABIO, the alliance that leads innovation in health in Spain:
Indeed, to address these barriers, it is essential that we work in a collaborative environment that links our scientific and research capabilities with the business environment. This approach not only promotes knowledge transfer between regions, but also drives the joint development of R&D projects, which are essential for the advancement of healthcare technology. The key lies in our ability to articulate effective collaboration between regional clusters, ranging from research and development to the commercialization and distribution of products and services. All of this with the firm purpose of fostering innovation in healthcare in our country.
BIOIB is part of the Alliance of Spanish Health Clusters (ACESABIO), which brings together 12 clusters grouping more than 1,000 different entities throughout Spain,
This alliance has an aggregate turnover of more than 27 billion euros and nearly 380,000 direct jobs. Of these entities, 73% are SMEs, of which 34% are start-ups; 15% are corporations; and the remaining 12% are knowledge centers, foundations, third sector entities and patient associations in the field of health in Spain.

All the initiatives we carry out through this solid public-private collaboration network, established in 2023, are aimed at strengthening the healthcare ecosystem in Spain, presenting us as a key player in the national economy.
Undoubtedly, this health innovation framework provides us with the appropriate platform to integrate efforts, knowledge, experience and resources at regional and sectoral level, enhancing interregional collaboration and maximizing synergies in research and development, from a position of capillarity and knowledge of the particularities of each region. In other words, we act as a bridge that connects innovation with its practical implementation, fostering cooperation among all our associates from a territorial cohesion perspective and focusing on attracting strategic investments that boost the growth of this sector.
Precisely, one of our main lines of action is the ability to create a common front that amplifies our impact at the international level and reinforces our competitiveness in a globalized environment.
This collaborative approach allows us to present an integrated, solid and differentiated joint offer, highlighting the excellence and uniqueness of our members and consolidating our presence as a leading local player on the international scene.
We are convinced that this effort will contribute significantly to the construction of a more robust healthcare ecosystem, capable of transforming the sector into a priority economic driver, strengthening the business fabric, generating qualified employment and positioning Spain as a global benchmark in healthcare and biosciences.
