EUREKA Call: Solutions for the Next High Impact Human Pandemic (Post-COVID-19)

Eureka’s international R&D network has launched a second, forward-looking COVID-19 call for research projects of between one and three years’ duration, with the aim of responding to the future challenges that may be posed by new situations of highly contagious diseases with a high impact on human beings.
Projects may include (but are not limited to):
– Technologies for local resilience or self-sufficiency
– Medical Interventional Robotics
– Infection prevention and protection
– Prevention of antibiotic resistance
– Sanitation technology
– Diagnosis and testing
– Therapeutics, vaccines and drugs
– Medical Interventional Robotics
– Disease tracking technology
– Smart critical production technologies and blockchain supply chains
– Educational technologies and digital workplace
– Govtech / Open date and Big Dataecnologies that enable local resilience or self-sufficiency
In our case, the National Funding Authority is the CDTI.

Beneficiaries: The call is aimed at companies, although other types of entities may apply.
The consortium must include at least two organizations independent of each other from two of the participating countries (Belgium, Canada, Estonia, Finland, France, Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey).


Grants:
In the case of CDTI, one of the following grants can be obtained:
– Grant: both companies and technology centers can be beneficiaries, being also possible the subcontracting of entities. In the text of the call for grants you will find all the details
– Credits: In this case we can directly support companies (of any size) and technology centers, universities, etc. must participate as subcontractors (it is an eligible cost for companies) or assume the self-financing of their participation. CDTI grants are available for both R&D and innovation projects.

Chronology:
– Call opening: May 15, 2020
– Deadline for Eureka applications: July 15, 2020
Additionally and before July 15, Spanish partners must register the proposal to CDTI. This procedure for submitting proposals to the CDTI is through the electronic headquarters.
– Deadlines for national funding applications: Varies by country
– Funding decisions: November 15, 2020
– Project duration: up to 36 months
– Implementation of project results: up to 24 months after the end of the project, for shorter launches.
