Launching of the Euroregion Quality Food Network Project

11 de March de 2021

The Kick-off Meeting of the Quality Food Network of the Euroregion Pirienos Mediterranea project took place on March 10, 2021 virtually. This meeting represents the launching of the project, in which the partners have jointly reviewed the activities, phases, schedule and budget for the proper implementation of the project.

The main objective of the project is to strengthen the innovative ecosystem of the agri-food sector on a Euroregional scale. To achieve this objective, the project includes:

– The organization of a quality food congress to address issues of interest to the sector.

– A B2B (be to be) session to promote the emergence of new partnerships and innovative projects.

– An initiative in recognition of euroregional collaboration with a greater innovative component

– Participation in forums such as the Catalan Food Forum and the REGAL Food Quality Fair (Occitania Region) to give visibility and continuity to the network.

The consortium that will implement the project is formed by

1) Biotechnological and Biomedical Cluster of the Balearic Islands (BIOIB), which works with the regulatory councils to open its scope to the agri-food sector.

2) IRQUALIM, which brings together all agricultural and agri-food stakeholders in the Occitania region around the development and support of official quality and origin procedures (PDO, PGI, Label Rouge, STG and organic farming).

3) PRODECA, which, in coordination with business associations, entities and organizations of the agri-food sector in Catalonia, works on the marketing and improvement of the competitiveness of the products of this sector.

As associated partners, there is the Denomination of Origin Oil of Mallorca, the Protected Designation of Origin Pla i Llevant and the Protected Geographical Indication Sobrasada de Mallorca.

The Euroregion Quality Food Network project is supported by the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion, within the framework of the Covid-19 aid fund.
