Biotech Call for Network Projects

Description

Objective: to support international collaborative projects in the field of biotechnology aimed at developing innovative products, processes or services with commercialization potential.

The call seeks to promote cooperation between countries by financing projects with a clear innovative approach and defined implementation plans.

Proposals related to the following areas will be funded:

  • Advanced biomanufacturing and ecosystem enablers (scale-up and manufacturing of complex therapeutics, microfactories for decentralized bio-manufacturing, sustainable and green biomanufacturing, etc.)
  • Next-generation therapies and modalities (innovative cancer treatment modalities, targeted radiopharmaceuticals, mRNA-based vaccines, microbiome-based therapies and diagnostics, exosome-based therapies and delivery systems; as well as innovative antibiotics)
  • Agricultural and veterinary innovations (agricultural biotechnology, development of new veterinary therapies and integration of omics data in agronomic decision making).
  • Advanced diagnostic and data technologies (advanced bioinformatics and artificial intelligence for biotechnology, in situ molecular diagnostics and in situ biosensors for soil, pathogen and water stress monitoring)

Dates and deadlines
  • 31 March 2026: Call for projects opens
  • 25 September 2026: Call for projects deadline

Budget
  • CDTI will finance Spanish startups, SMEs and large companies through a partially refundable loan.
  • Aid intensity: up to 85% of eligible costs for any type of company.
  • Minimum budget per company: €175,000.
  • There is no maximum budget for Spanish partners, although it must be consistent with the activities and capacity of the company.
  • Universities and research centers may be subcontracted.

 

The Spanish company must submit the international application to CDTI by October 2, 2026, including the Eureka form and, if available, a draft consortium agreement.

After validating eligibility, CDTI will enable national applications for Spanish partners, which should be submitted approximately one month after the international call closes.

Consortium requirements

  • The consortium must be balanced and the project must involve international cooperation.
  • Minimum 2 independent entities from 2 EUREKA countries participating in the call.
  • The project must be directed to the research or development of an innovative product, process or service with the objective of its commercialization.
  • No partner or country may assume more than 70% of the total project budget.
