📢 CaixaImpulse Call for Proposals – Health Innovation 2026

The CaixaImpulse Call for Innovation in Health aims to transfer the results of laboratory research to patients, supporting projects with high potential for transfer and valorization in the field of health 🧬💡.

The program promotes projects led by research centers, hospitals and universities, offering funding, expert mentoring and specialized training.

💰 Total funding of up to: €700,000 per project
🎓 Includes personalized mentoring and innovation training.

🎯 Program objective

Support innovative projects in life sciences and human health that seek to:

  • Validate assets derived from research

  • Moving to the market

  • Defining strategies for valorization, development and exploitation

 

🧭 Program structure

The program is organized in 3 phases, according to the maturity of the project:

🔹 Phase 1 – Proof of concept

  • Preliminary demonstration of the scientific hypothesis

  • Beginning of intellectual property protection

  • 💰 Up to €50,000

🔹 Phase 2 – Validation and development.

  • Validation and characterization of assets

  • Prototype definition and intended use

  • Up to 150,000 €.

🔹 Phase 3 – Market readiness

  • Advanced asset characterization

  • Regulatory, financial and operating strategy

  • 💰 Up to 500,000 €.

➡️ Projects can apply directly for any of the phases and progressively advance after evaluations by independent experts.

🎓 Specialized training

The training program includes sessions on:

  • Technology transfer

  • Value proposition and business models

  • Intellectual Property

  • Clinical validation and regulation

  • Public and private financing

  • Market analysis

  • Communication and presentations

Compulsory in phase 2 | Elective in phase 1 and 3

Beneficiaries

👥 Who can apply

☑️ Project requirements

  • Direct relation to life sciences and human health

  • Clear market orientation and innovation

  • Areas: therapies, medical devices, diagnostics or digital health.

☑️ Applicant institutions

  • Public or non-profit entities

  • Based in Spain or Portugal

  • Universities, research and transfer centers, hospitals, foundations, etc.

  • Owners or co-owners of assets

  • ❗ Incorporated companies are excluded.

☑️ Project leader

  • Natural person with a higher degree

  • Main dedication to the project

  • Relationship with the requesting institution

  • Cannot lead more than one proposal

Dates and deadlines

🗓️ Key dates

  • 🖥️ Platform opening:
    December 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. (CET)

  • Submission deadline:
    19 February 2026, 14:00 (CET).

  • 📢 Resolution:
    July 2026

  • 🚀 Execution of projects:

    • Phase 1: up to 1 year

    • Phases 2 and 3: up to 2 years
      (Agreement to be signed before December 31, 2026)

  • 🎓 S pecialized training program:
    4 weeks from September to December 2026

Eligible expenses:

  • Outsourcing of valuation services and market research services

  • Recruitment of project personnel

  • Consumables and experimental trials

  • Travel and representation expenses

  • Indirect costs (phases 2 and 3 only)
