Call for Science and Innovation Missions 2026

Description

Misiones Ciencia e Innovación is a call included in the Plan Estatal de Investigación Científica, Técnica y de Innovación 2024 – 2027, within the subprogram “Para Impulsar la Colaboración en y entre los Sectores Público y Privado” of the “Transfer and Collaboration” Program, which has among its objectives to promote knowledge transfer and foster collaboration between institutions and agents of the Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation System (SECTI, hereinafter), with a special focus on public-private collaboration.

In particular, the subprogram includes among its actions the financing of collaborative R&D&I projects that propose solutions to cross-cutting and strategic challenges for society.

Missions selected for 2026

  • Development of a stable, flexible and resilient energy system with robust and reliable grids.
  • Towards a more efficient, sustainable and resilient aeronautical sector.
  • New scientific capabilities against multidrug-resistant microorganisms and other future challenges.
  • New capabilities to advance strategic autonomy in security and defense.
  • Women’s health in the framework of a biosanitary research oriented to pathologies with greater impact on women.
  • Food sovereignty in Spain: a sector focused on efficiency, quality, sustainability and food safety.
  • Accessible, sustainable and rapidly provided housing through industrialized and digitized construction.

 

 

The purpose of this call for proposals is to finance cooperative R&D projects led by companies that respond to the socio-economic challenges faced by developed societies.

The following missions have been selected for the 2026 call:

  • Development of a stable, flexible and resilient energy system with robust and reliable grids.
  • Towards a more efficient, sustainable and resilient aviation sector
  • New scientific capabilities against multidrug-resistant microorganisms and other future challenges
  • New capabilities to advance strategic autonomy in security and defense
  • Women’s health in the framework of a biosanitary research aimed at pathologies with greater impact on women.
  • Food sovereignty in Spain: a sector focused on efficiency, quality, sustainability and food safety
  • Accessible, sustainable and rapidly available housing through industrialized and digitized construction.
Beneficiaries

Groupings made up of a minimum of three and a maximum of six companies, at least two of which are independent of each other.

Companies must be validly incorporated, have legal personality and a registered office in Spain.

At least one company with SME status must participate in the consortium.

The resulting grouping will not have legal personality, so one of the participants will act as coordinator or representative of the grouping before the CDTI.

The members of the grouping must sign, prior to the formulation of the application, an internal agreement regulating its operation.

Dates and deadlines

The application period will begin on May 12, 2026, and end on June 12, 2026, at 12:00 noon, Spanish time.

Budget

60,000,000 euros, to be financed from item 28.08.467C.74921 of the 2023 General State Budget extended for 2026, or those that replace them in the event of budgetary modifications.

Of this budget, a minimum of 20,000,000 euros will be allocated to proposals under the mission “Towards a more efficient and resilient aeronautical sector” and a minimum of 5,000,000 euros to proposals under the mission “Women’s health in the framework of a bio-health research aimed at pathologies with a greater impact on women”.
