Description

Promoting Health Research and Innovation with Clinical and Business Applications

The Directorate General for Health Research, Training, and Accreditation of the Government of the Balearic Islands has published the PROSALUT 2026–2029 call for proposals, aimed at funding transformative health research and innovation projects with a clear focus on knowledge transfer and the practical application of results.

The goal of this grant program is to strengthen the healthcare R&D&I ecosystem in the Balearic Islands by promoting scientific excellence, translational research, and collaboration between public and private entities.

Objective:

The call for proposals aims to support projects that:

  • Generate new knowledge in strategic areas of health.
  • Promote translational research and innovation.
  • Achieve results with demonstrable applications in clinical, healthcare, or business practice.
  • Promote collaboration among research centers, healthcare organizations, and companies.
  • Contribute to the development of the Balearic Islands Health Research and Innovation Strategy for 2023–2027.

Beneficiaries

The following entities may submit applications:

  • Accredited Health Research Institutes (IIS).
  • Hospitals, primary care centers, and other public health facilities.
  • Public Research Organizations (PROs).
  • Public universities.
  • Public R&D&I centers.
  • Public biomedical research consortia.
  • Private nonprofit organizations engaged in health research.
  • Companies, regardless of their legal form.

Funding will be provided for research and innovation projects that meet the following criteria:

  • High scientific and technological impact.
  • Potential for transfer to the healthcare system or the business community.
  • Applicable and verifiable results.
  • Alignment with the strategic priorities of RIS3 and the Balearic Islands’ Health Research and Innovation Strategy.

The application must include, among other documents:

  • Scientific and Technical Report on the Project.
  • Economic Questionnaire.
  • Report on Alignment with Strategic Priorities and RIS3.
  • Affidavits from the applicant organization.
  • Resumes of the research team.
  • The organization’s institutional documentation.

 

Intensity: 60%; however, if the company is small, engages in industrial research (including applied research), and collaborates with a research institution, the maximum intensity would be 80%.

July 18 through August 14

Budget

Total budget: €1,875,000, co-financed by the 2021–2027 ERDF Program for the Balearic Islands. Categories and Amounts
Category 1. Individual projects for public and private nonprofit organizations
Maximum grant amount: up to €120,000 per project. You may apply as a partner if another organization submits the application.

 

Option 2. Coordinated projects (public entity + private entity)
Maximum grant amount: up to 135,000 euros per project. (Public entity: 90,000 euros; private entity: 45,000 euros). You can apply for this without any problem.
