ICEX Spain Export and Investment has launched the ICEX Next 2026 call for applications, aimed at Spanish SMEs that wish to begin or consolidate their international expansion. The program combines specialized advice and financial support to identify opportunities in new markets, develop an internationalization strategy, and improve the company’s competitiveness abroad.
The grants provide funding for consulting services, market research, international promotional activities, and the development of the overseas sales network. They also cover certain expenses related to the registration and protection of trademarks and patents, as well as product approval and certification required to access international markets.
Spanish SMEs with export potential may apply for this aid, provided they have their own internationally marketable product or service and their own brand. They must have a corporate website, sufficient resources to support their international growth, and at least one employee on staff who will take on responsibilities for the project. They may not be commercial or manufacturing subsidiaries of foreign companies. BOE
In general, a turnover of more than €300,000 is required, although newly established technology-based companies are exempt from this requirement. Newly established companies are defined as those whose incorporation was registered in the corresponding registry no more than five years ago; this period is extended to seven years for biotechnology companies, among other sectors specified in the call for applications. Associations and foundations are excluded. Applicants must meet all other requirements, including those related to payment obligations and prior participation in ICEX introductory programs, subject to the exceptions specified in the call for applications.
The application period runs from October 11 to 30, 2026, until 2:00 p.m. BOE
Applications are submitted online through the ICEX Next member portal, along with the required documentation. Companies are selected through a competitive selection process. ICEX
The program lasts 24 months from the date the beneficiary company signs the letter of participation.
The call for proposals has a budget of 3,600,000 €, which may be increased by up to an additional 1,800,000 € depending on budget availability and the corresponding approval. Each recipient company may receive up to €24,000, which will cover 60% of eligible expenses, in accordance with the conditions and limits established in the call for proposals. ICEX
