Regional Incentives: Investment grants

Description
The objective is to encourage business investment in certain areas of the national territory in order to alleviate inter-territorial imbalances and to distribute economic activities in a more balanced manner.


Beneficiaries

The beneficiaries of the aid are SMEs that carry out investments that involve:

– the creation of a new establishment: investments that give rise to the initiation of a business activity and create new jobs.

New hotel establishments.
New industrial establishments, logistics centers and factories.
New complementary leisure facilities.
– the expansion of productive activity or the initiation of a new activity in an existing establishment: investments that have a significant increase in productive capacity, create new jobs and maintain existing jobs.

Expansion of industrial facilities (new lines that allow the manufacture of a new product).
Expansion of a hotel establishment.
– modernization of activities: investments that demonstrate an increase in productivity and that maintain existing jobs.

Modernization of the hotel plant, through the improvement of facilities and infrastructure.
Modernization of industrial facilities and/or diversification of production (replacement projects are not allowed).
In the case of large companies, aid may only be granted for initial investments that create a new economic activity (art. 8.2 of Royal Decree 621/2022, of April 26, delimiting the economic promotion zone of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands).

Natural persons, temporary joint ventures (UTE), communities of property (CB), economic interest groupings (AIE) and communities of property owners are not eligible for regional incentive aid.

Dates and deadlines
The call for applications is permanently open and applications can be submitted until 12/31/2027.
Budget


The intensity of the aid depends on the economic promotion zone in which the investment is made, the type of company making the investment and the type of project. The grants are non-refundable subsidies and the percentage is determined by the score obtained from the application of the evaluation criteria established in the regulations.   

The maximum aid intensities in the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands are as follows:

15% for large companies  

25% for medium-sized companies  

35% for small companies
